Originally Established Under The Name ‘ THE POONA ENGINEERING CLASS AND MECHANICAL SCHOOL ‘ IN JULY 1845 , this Esteemed College Was Renamed As ‘ College of Engineering, Pune ‘ In 1911. It is the third oldest engineering college in Asia. In 2003 The college got autonomous status and from then on It has went on Adding New Departments and New Wings And has Broadened Its Horizon By Introducing New Academic and Extension Programmes.

COEP Offers 10 UG and 23 PG Programmes and has More Than 3200 Students Enrolled In Its Various Courses.The College has been Offering M.Tech In TOWN PLANNING in 1966. Under The Very Idea Of Development And With The Attitude Of Contributing Towards The betterment of The Society by Creating Efficient Planners, The College Started The B.Tech (Planning) course In 2012. Since Then Improvisations are being Made and Efforts Are being Taken Up By The College to Provide Better Facilities to these Future Planners.

About Town & Country Planning Department

The Department of Town Planning was founded in 1966. Department has its distinction of being first in the state to start a masters program in Town and Country Planning. Since its inception, the department has grown into one of the largest and most widely respected graduate town and country planning program in the state and country. The department merged with Department of Civil Engineering in 2006. The current course is a four year bachelor course in Planning started in academic year 2012-13 after permission from AICTE.

To be a Center of Excellence in Environment, Sustainable Development and Urban and Regional Planning.

Mission:
To develop highly qualified and committed planners who will play a leading role in the sustainable development of the country and its integration into the global systems.

Program Education Objectives (PEOs)

  • The objective of four years B.Tech Planning intensive programme is to provide an integrated multidisciplinary study of a wide range of Urban and Regional Planning and Environment related issues.
  • The programme consists of comprehensive lectures on course and topics of current interest and importance, field studies and studios and case studies of special interest related to urban and regional planning programmes.
