About APIED
APIED was founded in 1980 at Vadodra, Gujarat by a group of like-minded professionals who had a collective vision to establish an institutions of repute to impart quality education in Architecture and Interior design. The vision was formulated into reality under the aegis of Parisar Trust. Founder trustee of Parisar Trust included renowned individual in their chosen professionals namely late Ar. Suryakant Patel, late Shri Himmatbhai Patel, Ar. Rasik Shah, Er. Mahindra Modi, Shri Prabhudas Patel, and Shri Bhupen Kakkar.
Master of Planning
The program is recognized by Institute of Town Planners, India (ITPI), New Delhi and Affiliated to Sardar Patel University. The program aims at development of a broad understanding of planning process with respect to socio-economic, physical and environmental aspects of urban and regional areas. The program seeks to extend the limits of existing Urban & Regional Planning theories and actively pursue the discovery of new viable forms of urban agglomerations for the new generations.
Central to the curriculum in Urban Planning is the study of Urban process in their various embodiments such as Physical Planning, Economic, Social & Physical Infrastructural facilities, environmental impacts and the political & administrative framework in the context of the urban areas.
The combination of theory sessions and studio exercises in the curriculum enables translation of knowledge into practical solutions. The studio exercises primarily aim at cultivation of planning methodology with critical reviews of suggested proposal and interventions.
Land Use Plan, Master Plan, Development plan, Town Planning Scheme, City Development plan and Regional plan are some of the outcomes of the studio exercise structured at various levels of planning. Tools to conceptualize, prepare and implement such plans, understanding of Planning Techniques (Geographical Information System, SPSS, Remote Sensing etc), legislative measures and development control regulation are an integral part of the studio.
The Masters in Urban Planning (MPLAN) degree from the institute prepares the students to become professionals to practice or employ as Town Planners, Urban Planners or similar positions in both public and private sector in India and abroad. The Institute of Town Planners, India (ITPI), New Delhi recognizes the Masters of Urban Planning degree as qualifying requirement for awarding the membership to the successful candidates as Members, ITPI.
