How to Fill the Application Form of JEE Main?

The National Testing Agency has released the online application form at jeemain.nic.in. Candidates who were not able to appear for the JEE Main January session can take the exam in April. JEE Main scorecard is considered by NITs, IIITs and CFTIs at the time of the seat allocation process. Know about the detailed application process of the JEE Main exam below.

Candidates must ensure that they are eligible to enter the examination before applying online. The direct link to application form for Joint Entrance Examination (Main) will be available on the homepage of the official portal. Next, candidates need to register themselves to receive the login credentials for signup. Once they sign up, they can proceed with submission of form along with the requisite application fee.

Step-wise Process to Fill the JEE Main Application Form

You can find the link on the homepage of the official website. Next, the link will redirect you to the registration window. First, let us learn about the ‘Fresh Candidate Registration’.

Registration for new users

Three core steps to register yourself includes- (1) Filling in the application form, (2) Upload of scanned images, and (3) Payment of the examination fee

Step 1Under ‘Fresh Candidate Registration’, click on the tab ‘Proceed to apply’.
Step 2In the next window, you need to read the important instructions for filling in the application form. Download the information bulletin (if required) and mark the declaration box to proceed.
Step 3Authentication Form: Enter the prescribed details- State of Eligibility, Type of ID, ID number, Candidate’s name, Date of birth, Gender, and Security pin. Submit the details.
Step 4Personal details: Later, enter Father’s name, Mother’s name, Category, PwD (yes/No), Diabetic (yes/ no), Nationality, Place of residence,
Step 5Exam related details: Name of course, Mode of exam, First four choices of exam centres, and Medium of question paper.
Step 6Mailing address details: Country, State, District, Residential address, Locality, Name of city/ town/ village, Pin code, Email address, and Mobile number.
Step 7Academic details: Mention Year of passing matriculation and intermediate, Year of passing, Percentage of marks in class 12, Name of school, etc.
Step 8Guardian details: Father’s/ Mother’s qualification, occupation, and annual income.
Step 9Set password and enter security pin.
Step 10Submit the details and review the application form.
Step 11After successful registration, you will be assigned ‘Application Number’ and ‘Password’.

Now, you are a registered user, therefore you can proceed with the steps mentioned below.

Step 1Signup: Key in login credentials- Application Number and Password.
Step 2Upload scanned copies: Upload scanned images of Photograph and Signature in the prescribed format, dimensions, and file size given below.
Step 3Payment of application fee: Candidates can make the payment through online mode (Net Banking/ Debit card/ Credit card/ UPI) or generate an e-Challan (offline mode).

What to do in case of forgotten password?

 In case you have forgotten the password, you may reset it using the methods mentioned below.

  • Method 1: Answer the security question set during filling of application form.
  • Method 2: Alternatively, you can request verification code on registered mobile number via text message.
  • Method 3: Else, you can request the link for ‘Password Reset’ on your registered email address.

Qualifying marks of class 12: For admission to IIITs/ NITs/CFTIS, general category applicants must have obtained a minimum of 75%, while SC/ST candidates must have scored  a minimum of 65%.
