About the qualifying exam: GATE (AR)

To get into the Master’s Programme (Planning) of SPA, Delhi, you need to appear for GATE (AR) exam. GATE Architecture is an exam which tests the students in all theoretical and analytical aspects of subjects related to Architecture and Planning. Now, you might think ‘Why shall I study Architectural concepts for getting into a Master’s programme of Planning?’ Well, the sad part is that in order to get into a good college like SPA, you’ll have to work hard and learn architectural things for once (even if they make no sense and might be no help to you in the future) to clear the exam.

An important thing to note is that appearing for GATE (AR) exam and clearing it are not compulsory and it’s not that only a GATE scholar can get into the Master’s programme. However, similar to the other criteria for admission, GATE score (or rank) holds a heavy weightage and thus enhances your chances of getting selected.

PG Scholarships

Another advantage of clearing the qualifying exam is that it makes you eligible for PG scholarship. GATE qualified students who have a valid score card, are eligible for a scholarship amount of Rs. 12,400 per month for a time period of two years.
